According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 1.6 million veterans in Texas as of 2012. Texas vets can use our VA home loan calculator to quickly and easily calculate a VA loan payment with taxes and insurance, including jumbo VA home loans. The calculator will also estimate your VA funding fee. The VA funding fee is a fee paid to the Veteran's Administration to help support the VA home loan program. The fee is determined by the downpayment and if the vet has previously used his or her eligibility. Last updated 1/2021

Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019
Veterans and active-duty service members will be able to borrow more money for the purchase of a home and loan refinance; but veterans will be required to pay higher funding fees beginning in 2020.
The changes are due to the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019, which became effective Jan. 1, 2020. The new law eliminates the VA loan limits for eligible borrowers with full entitlement. Unfortunately, the new law also increases the VA funding fee for most veterans. Starting in 2020, the new funding fees will be the same for the main branches, National Guard, and reservists. Presently, Reserve and National Guard members pay slightly higher fees. Veterans receiving VA compensation for a service-connected disability, or purple heart recipients are exempt from paying the funding fee
Q. What is a VA loan?
A. The VA home loan is a zero down payment mortgage created for veterans who meet the qualifying guidelines. Recipients other than veterans may also be eligible for a VA home loan.
